Breast Lift
Breast Lift Surgery

A breast lift is medically known as a mastopexy and will raise and make your breasts firm by removing excess skin and will then tighten the tissue creating beautiful breast contour. If your areolas have become enlarged, a breast lift can also minimize areola size as the nipples will be repositioned.

People have had misunderstandings that a breast lift will change the size. A breast lift will not drastically change the size and therefore a breast lift is usually preformed in conjunction with a breast reduction or breast augmentation.

Do I Need a Breast Lift?

You may want a breast lift if you experience:

  • Sagging breasts or breasts that have lost volume from breast feeding
  • A reduction in volume because of considerable weight loss
  • Have nipples that point down
  • Have breasts that are not symmetrical
  • Have enlarged areolas
Who Qualifies for this Procedure?
To qualify for this surgery, you should be in good health without any underlying serious medical conditions that could increase risk from surgery. It is very important for the patient to ensure they have a positive attitude and are realistic about the final results. There is no particular age that is best to have this surgery done, although, some surgeons may recommend waiting until after you have finished developing and have finished having children as your breast will change during a pregnancy and breast feeding. It is recommended by the surgeon, however, many women do decide to have the surgery prior to having children, the decision is up to you.
Pre-Operative Preparations:
Prior to surgery, you will need to go to your family doctor and have an ECG and CBC (complete Blood Count) along with these medical processes you will need to submit before photos. You will also be required to read and complete our questionnaire on our website. Remember the surgeon will only do what is requested. Be specific and note any problem areas you would like fixed.
What are the Risks and Possible Complications?
You must be prepared for scarring. Dr. Rodas does a remarkable job but there are cases in which complications arise and can cause unfavourable scarring. Complication rates are very low; however, some risks include excessive bleeding, haematoma, skin loss, blood clots, allergic reaction to anaesthesia, skin discoloration, persistent swelling, looseness or sagging of skin, disappointing aesthetic results and temporary or permanent loss of sensation in the nipples.
When will I see the Final Results?
After surgery you will have a lot of swelling which should reduce within 3-4 weeks. The shape of your new breasts will take up to 3 months to settle and reveal the final result.
How Long will my Breast Lift Last?
With a breast lift, gravity will unfortunately play a factor as you age and in some cases you may want to consider having another lift. Because of this, some people opt to have breast augmentation done in conjunction with the lift.
